- Wetlands are essential to the complex web of life. They are the most productive ecosystem
on earth and provide fundamental ecological services that benefit people and wildlife.
- Sustainable wetland management is crucial for providing social and economic stability in a healthy environment.
- Wetlands provide outstanding learning opportunities for all education disciplines.
- Awareness of and respect for wetland resources can encourage a personal, lifelong commitment of responsibility and action.
- Children have the power to conserve and restore wetlands and wildlife.
Strategies
1.) Training
We work with the award-winning Project WET education network to train educators at professional development workshops. At these workshops educators are trained to teach wetlands-based science, math, language arts and visual arts lessons in the classroom and the field.
2.) Materials
We work with formal and non-formal educators, curriculum specialists and wetland experts to develop excellent and effective wetland education materials for educators and students.
